A Message from Our Early Childhood Director

Thank you for your interest in Peace Lutheran Preschool. The early childhood years are an exciting time of growth and development. It is our mission to provide a Christian educational program appropriate to the developmental needs of young children. At Peace Lutheran Preschool, we offer a well-planned program with a variety of learning experiences to develop young minds and bodies. Children are exposed to a variety of activities in math, science, literacy, language, social development, art, music, religion, and large motor skills. These experiences provide a pleasant and enjoyable approach to discovery and creativity. Our program supports emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development. We provide an engaging environment that nurtures children, supports families, and creates a community that inspires lifelong learners.

We offer programs for 2-year-old and parent/caregiver, 3s, 4s, and Young 5s.

Panther Cubs provides opportunities for child and parent to learn and grow through a variety of activities. Each weekly session offers fun, engaging opportunities to share stories, songs, finger-plays, gross motor play, music and movement, dramatic play, Jesus time, art, and sensory fun.

3s program is designed to set your child up for future academic, emotional, and social success. This is an opportunity to learn to share, follow instructions, and gain the foundation for learning. We focus on colors, shapes, letter recognition, fine motor development, and social skills.

4s program will provide children with opportunities to explore science, literacy, math, art, music and gross motor activities. Through a variety of child-directed play, and teacher-directed activities, children will develop social, emotional, and behavior skills. Our well-planned curriculum will provide classroom experiences to engage children’s curiosity for discovery and learning.

Young 5s program is designed to support young students who may not be age eligible, socially ready, or academically ready for a traditional kindergarten program. We implement a curriculum based on kindergarten standards modified to meet the academic, social, emotional, physical, language, cognitive, and spiritual needs of the child. This is a great transitional program into full day kindergarten and provides your child with a strong foundation for school success.

It is our prayer that we can assist you in this important stage of your child’s life. We look forward to partnering with you in your child’s education.

The early childhood years are an exciting time of growth and development! Here at Peace Lutheran Preschool we offer a well-planned program with a wide variety of experiences to develop young minds and bodies. We are dedicated to the growth of the whole child. Our program provides a balance between free play and teacher-directed learning activities. Learning takes place in a warm, friendly and relaxed setting. Learning materials are easily accessible to the children. These experiences provide a pleasant and enjoyable approach to discovery and creativity.  We offer Panther Cubs (age 2 with an adult), 3s, 4s and Young 5s.

Our Mission is "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.“ Proverbs22:6

Our goal is to partner with preschoolers and their parents during these critical, formative years. We will walk alongside you as we teach children the love and Word of God.

Our program is designed with your child in mind. We provide a safe, nurturing environment with experienced teachers who love God and love His children. Classroom routines and daily lessons are strategically planned to help each child develop social skills and gain knowledge in preparation for a lifetime of learning.

Our day consists of a balance of large group, small group, and independent activities. In each area we look for opportunities to help children learn, laugh, and recognize how amazing God has made each of us. A typical day includes: learning centers, free choice play, large group/circle time, Jesus time, stories, outdoor/gym time, music and movement, snack time, and closing prayers.

I am blessed to oversee an outstanding preschool program and a team of early childhood educators who love children and are dedicated to academic excellence, Christian leadership, and who strive every day to be an inspiration to students and families of God’s grace, mercy and love.

My boys are graduates of Peace Lutheran and Lutheran High School North.  Our positive experience in the preschool program and the loving, caring, gifted teachers are what made us stay for K-8.  I am grateful that I was led to be the Early Childhood Director after serving Peace as an Office Administrator and preschool teacher.

I enjoy visiting the preschool classrooms each day!  The laughter, the smiles, the hugs, and hellos warm my heart.  I feel like a rock star when I walk in the room and the children shout “Mrs. Quail!”  I love to watch the children learn, grow and develop into strong Christian boys and girls. The progression from the beginning of the year to the end of the year is amazing!

I welcome you to join our Peace family.  Peace is home and where you are accepted and welcomed as you are.  Here you and your children will feel loved and cared for.

Hi, my name is Amanda Keyser, Panther Cubs teacher.  As a stay at home mom, I knew I wanted my children to start off their school experience with a Christian education; after experiencing their first year of preschool here at Peace, I knew I wanted to be part of the teaching ministry as well!  There is nothing more special than seeing the eagerness and energy our youngest learners have when hearing about the love of Jesus.  I have my Elementary Education degree with a focus in Early Childhood Studies.  I have taught in many different settings from public schools, to children's museums, to private schools and by far the most meaningful experiences are sharing the Bible stories and songs with our preschool families.

I am a preschool aide.  I have been attending Peace since 2008 and my children have been students at school here for the past 14 years.  This place just feels like a warm hug on most days.  When I decided to go back to work, I didn’t want to work in the field I got my degree in.  I wanted to work with kids.  I love the Lord and I love kids.  I love watching how much the kids grow academically and spiritually over the school year.  Learning is fun and we make it fun in preschool.

Hi, I’m Jennifer, your Hot Lunch Coordinator/ Preschool Aide. My long career in the restaurant business passion for food, menu planning and organization makes me a perfect fit for the job!  Last year I was blessed with an amazing  opportunity to become a Preschool Aide, which I accepted and I love working with the Young 3s. Doing both jobs keeps me busy but I absolutely love doing both.

My time with Peace goes back quite a while. I was baptized and became a member of the church around 2000.  My daughter also attended 2nd-5th grade, which helped us build  a strong relationship with The church. We were offered a great job opportunity which resulted us moving out of state for a while. Then we ended back home and here I am back where I belong.

I love to travel, attend concerts and see as much as possible with my husband, grandchildren, dogs, family and friends.

We came to Peace because a friend recommended it. I’m so thankful that we took her advice. After the amazing experience that we had with Mrs. Towne and Mrs. Yarrington, I wanted to be more involved. I have had the honor of working in the Young 5’s and 4’s classroom. I have learned so much because at this young age they are so eager to learn, so they are always asking questions. I love coming to work because everyday is different and fun. It has been so fulfilling to know that I have the honor of planting seeds of faith and a love for God through art, science, math, music and movement. Having religion as part of our daily curriculum has helped me grow in God, and it is so sweet listening to how they understand and view God. I feel most comfortable when hanging out with these little cuties, I’m thankful to be a part of Peace team where staff and parents can become a “dream team” to lead little children to the throne of Heaven.

The last two years my twin boys attended 3 and 4-year preschool at Peace and it has made a huge impact on our family. The outpouring of love from the teachers, Pastor, and staff not only had me wanting my kids to be a part of this community long term, but also had me praying for an opportunity to get involved on a deeper level. My mission is to help spread the love and light of our savior to precious young minds, as the previous teachers did for our family.

A passion for teaching was grown in me from a young age, coming from a family of educators. The opportunity to join the Peace team brings together my enthusiasm for working with families and an opportunity to share the joy of Jesus with a new generation. I am looking forward to helping your child discover and build upon new abilities, grow social skills and expand their faith in the year ahead. I live in Shelby Township with my husband and three children. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, and my work experience includes teaching Kindergarten, Lead Teacher in an Early Head Start program, and working with families in their homes as a Home Visitor.

In one way or another, I've always found myself working with kids. From a young age, I was a Sunday school assistant, then youth group leader, and then a Sunday school teacher for many years. I loved seeing the kids light up when they learned something new from the Bible or proudly presented their memory verse flawlessly each week. I moved back to Michigan in August 2021, after working as a nanny in Chicago for three years. I knew I wanted a flexible job working with kids as I finish my Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Health online. My dear friend told me about a position at Peace as a Preschool Aide and everything fell into place. I love seeing the kids each day and helping them learn life skills as well as teaching them about Jesus Christ.

Throughout my years I've been inspired by many Lutheran school teachers. Their love for the Lord has motivated me to dig my heels in, pour my heart out and become an educator in a Christian school. Now I get to stimulate children's minds and help them to boost their own creativity every day in class! The Lord led me to Peace in 1993 when we moved back to our home state after being gone for a few years for my husband's job. I look forward to each day I spend educating children.  God tells us and equips us to use our gifts, and He walks with us daily so we are never alone. By becoming a team with each family, and with God's help together we can achieve any goal and overcome any obstacle.  Teaching the children about Jesus, His love, and His grace is both an honor and a blessing . Seeing life through the eyes of a child each day is refreshing.

My biggest hope is that every child leaves not only with their own academic and social milestones met at the end of the school year but with Jesus IN their heart! I received my degree Early Childhood Studies, with a minor in Biology/Nutrition from Macomb Community College and Oakland University.

I am so lucky to have found the career I know I was put on this earth to do.  The classroom is the place where I can bring all my passions, talents, and hobbies together to create an environment that is nurturing, exciting, and full of curiosity.  After teaching for a decade, I started a family and decided to be a stay-at-home parent. After eleven years and three children, teaching found me again. My youngest attended Peace for 3-year-old preschool, where we had an amazing experience.  It was the next year, for 4-year-old preschool, that an opportunity came up for me to be a part of the teaching staff at Peace. All things happen for a reason and I knew this was the time and the place that was meant for me to get back into the classroom. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a double major in English and Theatre from Western Michigan University, where I graduated Cum Laude, along with masters’ credits in Teacher as a Leader from Saginaw Valley State University. I love being a volunteer for two non-profits in our community, a hockey mom, a dance mom, a musician and a performer. And I truly enjoy being a partner with young minds on their journey to discovery, and being there to celebrate in that moment of their success.

I was led to Peace 13 years ago when looking for a preschool home for my youngest son.  The Early Childhood director at Peace quickly became a life changing person who not only brought me to Peace as a parent, but soon after, as an employee.  I have a Health Science degree from Grand Valley State University along with an Early Childhood teaching certificate.  I am blessed to be both a wife and mom to our 3 sons.  By coming to Peace, not only did I gain employment, my family also became church members.  Peace has become a second family to us.  God has continued to place people in my life that have helped grow my faith and my love for teaching young children.
