Bible Lessons From My Backyard #3: Starry Nights
“When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that You should think about them, human beings that You should care for them? Yet You made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.” Psalm 8:3-9
I taught my children a little song about “Oh, who can make” … a flower, the sunshine, the raindrops (Concordia Publishing House). Let’s add a mountain, a tree, a snowflake, the moon and the stars. Of course, the answer is God! What a marvelous creation He has made! We are in awe of His marvelous nature. When you sit and look at the stars on a summer evening, let them remind you of God’s majesty. Let them fill you with peace, knowing that everything is from the hand of God.
Look back at today’s Bible passage. In all the splendor of God’s creation, nothing is more precious to Him, nothing closer to Him, than human beings. I have stood in awe, looking at incredible things in God’s wonderful world, mesmerized and wondering. And yet, none of those things is crowned with glory and honor. But you and I are. He cares for you and me in a very special way. Psalm 8 says so. Wow. THAT is AWEsome!
*What has you mesmerized and wondering about God’s incredible world?
*How does it make you feel to read in God’s Word that YOU are crowned with glory and honor?
Your creation is incredible! Thank You for letting me enjoy it. Thank You for creating me and caring for me in a very special way. Amen.
