May 14 - Devotion and Announcements
Devotion for Thursday, May 14
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” 2 Timothy 1:5
My Grandma Lydia and Grandma Anna were very precious to me. Both live in heaven now, and I look forward to our reunion when I go to be with Jesus, too! When I was a girl, I loved visiting the homes of my grandmas. There were special smells and special treasures, favorite activities and favorite days. Wonderful memories were created with my grandmas.
In the Bible, we read about a special mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois. We are told about them in God’s Holy Word because of the models they were for all mothers and grandmothers. Not only did they take care of young Timothy and his physical needs, they were influential in his spiritual life. Timothy became the companion of the apostle Paul and his co-worker in the Lord’s ministry. In his youth, Timothy’s faith had been nurtured and strengthened by his mother and grandmother.
My grandmas, too, were important in my faith life. They loved the Lord very much, and they encouraged my parents’ faith, and then mine. I am thankful for the women of God in my life.
*Have you been blessed with a grandma or another special lady who has done special things for you?
*How can you do something nice for your grandma or another special lady to let her know that she is loved?
Thank you for grandmothers. Teach us how to respect and honor them, and let us learn wonderful things from them. Thank you for their influence, and let me be a godly influence in my family. Amen.
Announcements for Thursday, May 14
Hello, Peace Lutheran School Students, Families, and Staff!
Today is Thursday, May 14, 2020, and this is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!
ENROLLMENT is open for SCHOOL YEAR 2020-2021! We look forward to having you back with us as a returning student, and we would love to welcome your relatives, neighbors, and friends as new students! Please tell them about Peace Lutheran School, where outstanding education takes place, and the love of Jesus is shared, every day!
Next Friday, May 22, is the final day of academic instruction, and new lessons and assignments, for Remote Learning 4th Quarter and School Year 2019-2020. The following Friday, May 29, is the last official day of school. This note will help you understand the report card markings for COVID-19 Remote Learning in the “Specials” classes. In this 4th quarter, the Specials have been considered “optional” for Grades K-2 and marked as “participation” in Grades 3-8. Student participation in 3-8 has occurred at varying degrees. These are all acceptable during our COVID-19 Remote Learning phase:
FP = Full Participation: consistently engaged in activities and met requirements, turned in assignments/reported in on projects, interacted with teacher
SP = Some Participation: engaged in some of the activities offered
EP = Extra Participation: went beyond class requirements and demonstrated high interest in subject matter
N/A = not applicable
* It is almost graduation time! This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and school shutdown, graduation activities will not be the same as in other years. But that doesn’t mean our graduates won’t be celebrated! Plans are underway for some unique ways to commemorate this milestone of the graduates, our 4-year-old preschoolers and our 8th graders. More details will be coming soon. Stay connected to this remote learning webpage for more information!
Unashamed! Romans 1:16 reminds us of this - “I am not ashamed of the Good News about Jesus, because it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes.” The Good News about Jesus is for you every day!
Peace family and friends, please remember who you are and whose you are. You are God’s special, beloved children. Have a wonderful day in the Lord.
Love from Jesus and us,
Mrs. Stathakis and Mrs. Quail
