March 26 - Devotion and Announcements
Devotion for March 26, 2020
Matthew 5:13 - “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” (Matthew chapter 5 continues tomorrow.)
I love to cook. While you’re at home with your family, perhaps you’ve been helping with the cooking. My own kids are great cooks, and that just might be because they helped me in the kitchen when they were little. They got to know cooking techniques and various utensils. They also love to eat! Appreciating good food and getting familiar with flavors is an important part of good cooking.
Salt is a very common ingredient in cooking. It makes food extra delicious, and just a tiny bit is all it takes to make flavors better. If you’ve ever tasted pretzels or chips with no salt, you know what a difference salt makes.
Jesus says that we are like salt. We are God’s people, and we can share the gifts of God, His mercy and grace, to make the world better. We can share the wonderful Good News about Jesus that points the way to heaven. It’s as if we are the salt that makes everything good and tasty. Apart from God, we lose that “saltiness”, and we miss out on being part of God’s plan to share the Good News of Jesus.
*What kinds of foods have salty flavor that you enjoy?
*Have you offered to help do the cooking at home or help in other ways?
Thank You for sending Your Son to be the Savior of the world. Help us to be like salt, making the world better by sharing the Good News of Jesus. Amen.
**Make sure you watch the video that goes with this devotion after the announcements.
Announcements for March 26, 2020
Hello, Peace Lutheran School Students, Families, and Staff!
Today is Thursday, March 26, and this is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!
By now, you’ve probably had the opportunity to join your teacher and friends in a Zoom classroom meeting. We’re sure you were all happy to see and hear one another! Technology has become a very big blessing to us, hasn’t it? Thank You, God, for technology.
Unashamed! Romans 1:16 reminds us of this - “I am not ashamed of the Good News about Jesus, because it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes.” The Good News about Jesus is for you every day!
Please pray Martin Luther’s Morning Prayer.
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger. And I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Peace family and friends, please remember who you are and whose you are. You are God’s special, beloved children. Have a wonderful day in the Lord.
Love from Jesus and us,
Mrs. Stathakis and Mrs. Quail
