March 15 - Devotion
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. "Wash your hands." We're reminded to wash our hands. Before and after we eat, before and after we play, it's good to wash our hands. Washing with soap cleans our skin and gets rid of germs. Scented or unscented, pumped or dispensed, washing with soap and water is important for getting rid of germs and dirt. Deep inside us, beyond where soap can do any good, is the part of us that needs cleansing even more than our skin. There's something that needs to be washed away even more than germs and dirt. It's the sin that is in the heart of each one of us. There is no soap that will take away the filth of sin. There is no amount of washing or scrubbing that we can do to get rid of it. But God sent Jesus to take away our sin! Jesus came to earth as both God and man. He lived among us, He died for us, and He rose in victory over sin! What Jesus has done for us has cleansed us from sin. He has washed away our sins. We are forgiven. We are made clean. We have peace, knowing that Jesus, who died for us, lives! Jesus has overcome the world, including both the problem of germs and the problem of sin. He will never leave us. He will never forsake us. He loves us so much! Fear not! You have been cleansed by Jesus! Dear God, Thank you for Jesus. Thank you that we are cleansed from our sins. Amen.
