We welcome anyone interested in serving in any of these caring activities such as Seniors, Nursing Home Visitation, Hospital and Shut-In Visitation, Meals for the Sick, Stephen Ministries, Food Pantry, Abigayle Ministries, New Moms, Wednesday Night Meals, Funeral Luncheons and Peace Volunteer Caregivers. Special Activities we support include: Thanksgiving and Christmas basket distribution, Red Cross Blood Drive, Card Ministry, meal prep and service for MCREST and food drive for Samaritan Center, just to mention a few. . If you are new to the church, it is a nice way to get to build relationships. We generally meet the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm beginning with pizza or something easy. However, our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 5:30 pm. (We will resume our normal "first Tuesday of the month" schedule on Tuesday, October 4, 2010.)
» 09.15.10 -Family Night
That's right; we will be starting before you know it! Family night will be starting on Wednesday.. September 15 (a change from last month's newsletter). Family Night is a great opportunity to dig into God's Word during the middle of the week, and to enjoy a great meal in the process. Unless someone steps up to help lead our meals, we will be asking for families to sponsor at least ONE meal on Wednesday nights — something simple and easy (Soup, Spaghetti, or Potato Bar, etc.). Peace Lutheran Church was “conceived” or “thought of” in 1954. Almighty God put that inspiration into people’s minds. The preliminary discussion about a mission Church in Shelby Township by members of Trinity Lutheran in Utica became more than just talk in 1955 when members of Trinity did a preliminary canvassing in Shelby, Washington and Romeo. The canvassing, which took place off and on until 1959, produced this result. Sixty-nine (69) really interested people comprised of Trinity members, non-Lutheran people and unchurched people who were ignited by door to door visitation. These 69 people worked hard, got involved in personal evangelism and invited friends, neighbors and relatives.
