Peace Lutheran Church was “conceived” or “thought of” in 1954. Almighty God put that inspiration into people’s minds. The preliminary discussion about a mission Church in Shelby Township by members of Trinity Lutheran in Utica became more than just talk in 1955 when members of Trinity did a preliminary canvassing in Shelby, Washington and Romeo. The canvassing, which took place off and on until 1959, produced this result. Sixty-nine (69) really interested people comprised of Trinity members, non-Lutheran people and unchurched people who were ignited by door to door visitation. These 69 people worked hard, got involved in personal evangelism and invited friends, neighbors and relatives.
